Hilarious Car Insurance Claims
Posted on Tuesday, December 09, 2008 at 4:49 PM by Active Insurance
No blog within an insurance company is complete without the obligitary and hilarious list of funny claims, a few of which were made famous by Jasper Carrott. And, as Jasper has just received a lifetime achievement award in recognition of his career, I give you the following in his honour:
(The names and text have been changed slighty to protect the innocent!)
“ Going to work at 7 this morning, I drove out of my driveway straight into a bus. The bus was 5 minutes early ( courtesy, N Bradley)
“I was driving along when I saw two kangaroos copulating in the middle of the road causing me to ejaculate through the sunroof” (an Aussie claim form – N Shepherd)
“The accident happened because I had 1 eye on the truck in front, 1 eye on the pedestrian and the other on the car behind” (S Burrows)
“ I started to slow down but the traffic was more stationary than I thought”
“I hit a stationary truck coming the other way”
“The car in front hit the pedestrian but he got up so I hit him again”
“A truck backed through my windscreen into my wifes face”
In an attempt to kill a fly, I drove in to a telegraph pole”
And my personal favourite:
I was on my way to the doctors with rear end trouble when my universal joint gave way causing me to have an accident!”
Ah, classics all of them. Although there are plenty more and will share them over the next few days……

Documents required for a taxi insurance / private hire insurance policy
Posted on Thursday, December 04, 2008 at 12:59 PM by Active Insurance
As a licenced taxi / private hire driver, when you take out a taxi inusrance policy most insurers will require copies / originals of certain documentations from you. Below is a list of the required documents. Depeneding on the insurer the list may vary and you may only be required to produce only certain documents. Other insurers may ask for additional documentation. The common document checklist is as follows.
- Proposal Form - Normally supplied at inception of the policy
- DVLA Counterpart Driving Licence
- DVLA Photo Card Licence (Both Sides)
- Public Hire / Private Hire Drivers Badge
- Public Hire / Private Hire Vehicle Plate Licence or Permit
- Vehicle Log Book
- MOT Certificate
- Proof of No Claims Bonus
- LPG Conversion Certificate (If vehicle is converted)
There can be circumstances when additional documentation will be required and your taxi insurance company will inform you of this. It is important that all relevant material facts are declared correctly as incorrect information could lead to additional premium payable or worse the policy being voided and cancelled.
